Good news is I got an A for commtech class :D so I'd like to say thank you to kak Yuni & kak Indyrra, for their help throughout this semester. Another good news is that I got 7.5 band score for IELTS! Yay! :D Next year, I hope to continue my double degree studies to Curtin University in Perth, Australia. So.. good luck to all my friends, architecture 2013, let's face term 3 together! I'll try my best to keep this blog updated for the next architectural classes on term 3. Cheers!

Final Project: Gorontalo Traditional House

Finally, we're at the end of this class. I have learned so much through this semester. For our final group project, we have to choose one of the traditional house replica in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). My group (me, Ulfa, Ghina, Asri, Shabrina, and Kezia) choose Gorontalo for our project. For the individual assignment, I choose the stairs and railings as my main focus. We have collect as many data as possible from the Gorontalo traditional house conserved in TMII and do a research on the original traditional houses in Gorontalo. This way, we can see the comparison between the replica and the original one.

After we observed the building and do the measurements, we make drawings of floor plan, sections, elevations, block plan, and perspective drawings for the exterior, interior, and construction details. We made a model of the house in 1:50, and a site plan model in 1:200. Also for the individual focus, I made a model of the stairs and railings of Gorontalo traditional house in 1:10.

AR-05 | Architectural Drawing: Plan, Section, & Elevation (FE Bus Shelter)

We're divided into 3 groups to do this assignments. I'm with Ulfa, Ghina, Asri, Shabrina, and Kezia. We did the measuring together, but the architectural drawings is individual.

- floor plan

- 2 sections

- 4 elevations

- axonometric drawing

- block plan

- exterior perspective

- 3 perspective details

- site analysis

AR-04 | Architectural Drawing: Plan, Section, & Elevation (Wooden Table & Chair)

After we're done with perspective drawings, we're introduced to architectural drawings. A compilation of two-dimensional orthographic drawings that can describe the space of a three-dimensional object. The objects for this exercise are the wooden table in Engineering Center lobby and a chair. We have to draw the plans, sections, and elevations of these 2 objects. To do that, we have to measure it precisely so it will be on the right scale.

Plan: horizontal cut through an object, building, or space, typically directed down.
(ex: floor plan, roof plan, site plans, reflected ceiling plan, figure-ground plan, etc.)

Section: vertical cut through an object, building, or space.
(ex: wall section, street section, building sections, etc.)

Elevation: vertical section cut outside of an object, looking back at its face.

Human Figure Drawings

Pencil on A3

As an architecture student who did not have any skills on drawing a human figure before, I have learned about how to draw it proportionally with the right scale using 3 basic shapes; circle for the head, square for the body, and triangle for the legs. This exercise trains my eye to understand balance and form.

AR-03 | Mid Semester Exam (Engineering Center)

For the mid semester exam, we were given an empty space to fill with our ideas, which is the Engineering Center lobby in Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia. We have to be able to communicate our ideas of what we are going to do with the empty space through our perspective drawings. I decided to change the functions to be a student lounge.
